Andrew McLeod and Owen Madrick of Certn accepting the Fundica Cup in Victoria

On May 2, 2017 VIATEC was happy to be host once again to the annual Fundica Roadshow. This year’s roadshow also stopped in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Waterloo, Halifax, Vancouver and Calgary. The one-day event in Victoria consisted of panel discussions with VC’s and guest speakers, and startup pitches competing for:

  • A spot at the Grand Finale to secure the $1,000,000 FSVP Investment Award
  • 3 months free office space at WeWork
  • Cloud Hosting package from CANARIE
  • Free accounting services from Intuit

The startup that came out on top was Certn! So why not make them our Tectorian of the Week?!

Certn was founded with one goal in mind: build a platform that enhances how we evaluate credibility today to help promote financial inclusion while reducing risk for financial institutions, landlords and employers.

It’s the new standard in risk management solutions: it accurately predicts customer behaviour to virtually eliminate risk from credit & property portfolios.

Certn is also a member of VIATEC and currently in the VAP (Venture Acceleration Program).

A huge congratulations to Certn and we wish them the best of luck in the big Grand Finale competition! www.certn.co

Our Tectorian of the Week is: All of Tectoria!

Tectoria was on display at its finest from September 15-17 as 37 investors flew in from all over North America, and even Norway! Investors, public and media heard the latest news from local tech companies at the Launch & Learn and saw their products in action at Demo Camp. Investors even got one-on-one time with local entrepreneurs and dove into details during a private “Pitch ‘N Putt the Harbour” event.

In addition to this, over 200 people gathered at Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Club for the largest FuckUp Night gathering yet, and there was unlimited networking on rooftops, on the water, in the sky and even at the Rifflandia Music Festival.
